Patient Access to Diagnostic Medical Imaging The AGA supports the need to preserve patient access to high-quality diagnostic imaging services provided by all types of physicians. NIH Funding for Fiscal Year 2006 AGA endorses a 6 percent increase in NIH funding. Medical Liability Reform AGA endorses medical liability reform to avert health care crisis. Patient Access to Specialty Care The AGA offers a nine point plan to ensure patient access to specialty care in managed care organizations. Colorectal Cancer Screening The AGA strongly supports reintroduction of the “Eliminate Colorectal Cancer Act,” in the 109th Congress, and urges its prompt enactment. NIH Loan Repayment Program The AGA urges Congress to include funding in the fiscal year 2006 appropriations bill to adequately support the loan repayment provisions of the Clinical Research Enhancement Act and funding to expand. Foodborne Pathogens as Potential Bioterrorism Agents The AGA supports efforts to fund more research to develop treatments and vaccines for foodborne and waterborne pathogens. Such initiatives are essential to pre-empt efforts to use such pathogens as bioterrorism agents.
